Fall 2016 General Info

My name is Aaron Liao, the president of the MIT badminton club this year. Patrick Gregg and Jeffrey Mei are vice president and treasurer of the club, respectively. The first day of the 2015 fall semester is approaching and so are the badminton practices!

The club generally reserves courts on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:30 pm to 9: 30 pm, but check the MIT badminton website for the most update schedule. For training sessions, we will separate people into two different levels, intermediate and advanced, as determined by our coach, Pashupati Paneru, who will normally be coaching us on Tuesdays. Pashupati is a former international player who represented Nepal, and we are incredibly lucky that he has taken on the role of coach for our club. Thursdays are designated for game nights where you can play games with other club members. If there are a lot of people waiting for courts, please play doubles and limit games to one set so that everybody gets to play.

You need to bring your own racquet(s) to the practice and the club will provide shuttlecocks during the training time. The club will not provide shuttlecocks during game night. Check out our “related links” if you are not sure where to obtain racquets, shoes and etc. Please wear appropriate court shoes, and clean up used shuttles at the end of sessions. The clubs also sell shuttles if you need them.
